What a year this has been. There has been amazing moments that brought tears to my eyes, and there have been such sad moments that I have not been able to do anything but put my head in my hands and weep. One of the very best moments was finding that one in a million home for Sasha. Since she was pulled from the shelter she has changed so very very much. And now she is with the most amazing people that are determined to give her the life she deserves. They are working with our favorite trainer at Canine Harmony to get her used to being around other dogs. Recently she actually showed signs of wanting to play with a dog. What a huge difference from when she came to us. Listed as dog aggressive but really just not knowing how to behave around other dogs. She will never be the dog park dog but with work she will be safe. Here is Carol, Colin and Sasha on their adoption day. This is one girl that really is very lucky.
Sadie………………………… LOL What can we say about Sadie. She is getting better slowly. We have a vet that is now donating her time to Sadie’s care. Because of her condition we were not able to spay her before she went into heat. And this of course has set her back a little. But with some amazing care from her foster mom and some new herbal remedies she seems to be turning the corner. We still won’t put her on petfinder as she just isn’t adoptable yet. But soon she will be well enough to post once she is feeling better and has been spayed. My hat is off to the most wonderful foster home. Sadie has been getting the very best of care not only from her vets but also from the family she lives with.
The raffle held to help with her vet bills and care was a success. We not only raised $1300.00, it also brought in some great donations. I am so very grateful to those that stepped up to the plate to gather donations for prizes, sold tickets, BOUGHT tickets and did lots of running around. Without your help, we would not be able to do what we do.
Belle has settled into her foster home as if she had always been there. She has lost the weight she needed to lose and is now fit and ready to go. The little devil has been feeling so good that she has even counter surfed a couple of times. LOL I find this totally funny because the day I picked her up, her back legs were so weak. Now she is feeling well enough to hoist herself up on her hind legs to steal food. That’s always a good sign.
And my boy Herbie. Over 7 months now and still no word on when everything will be settled. Enough said.

It is the last day of the year and for 2010, I hope that West Coast Rottweiler Rescue won’t be needed. I hope that dogs everywhere will find safe warm houses with loving families. That is MY hope. But if we are needed I pray that we can continue to reach out to at least a few dogs.
